Quick and Easy Drop Biscuits Recipe

At 4:30 pm I knew we were going to have pasta for dinner, but I wanted some homemade bread, too! I just can’t stay out of the kitchen šŸ˜‰ However, kneading dough and waiting for it to rise takes way too long, I didn’t have time. So, I found this quick and very easy recipe for drop biscuits. A little something savory for theĀ not so sweet teeth people (?). Whatever. Here we go…

What you will need:

Baking sheet lined with parchment paper

For the dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
Salt to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. In a large bowl, whiskĀ together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in the softened butter until crumbly (I just used a spoon). Add egg and milk and stir until everything is combined. Drop by spoonfuls onto lined baking sheet and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until just starting to brown. Enjoy right out of the oven!

Tip: After dropping half the dough onto the baking sheet, I added a handful of shredded cheddar cheese and a tablespoon of chives into the remaining dough. In the picture below, the left half are plain, and the right are the cheddar and chive biscuits.Ā Get creative and add anything you like!
